Arlington Gem & Mineral Club(AGMC)

Welcome to the Arlington Gem and Mineral Club (AGMC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, where our rich history and dedication to the earth sciences and lapidary arts have united generations of enthusiasts. Founded in 1957, AGMC has been a beacon for those passionate about rocks, gems, and minerals, providing training, education, and a welcoming community for over four decades.

At AGMC, we take pride in being a 100% volunteer organization, where everyone from our executive staff to the teachers for individual classes generously donate their time and expertise. This commitment to volunteerism ensures that our programs and activities are driven by a genuine passion and a desire to share knowledge with others. The nominal fees we charge for classes and events go directly towards supporting our operations, helping us keep the lights on and continue serving our community effectively.

As a charitable organization, AGMC is committed to expanding our community outreach activities to make a positive impact beyond our membership, including donating to local charities. One of our key initiatives involves donating to scholarship funds that support earth science programs, ensuring that aspiring scientists and enthusiasts have access to educational opportunities. Additionally, we have established programs that directly benefit youth within the community, including partnerships with organizations such as the Boy Scouts, American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS), and other youth-focused groups. Through these efforts, we aim to inspire the next generation of earth scientists and foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world among young people in our community and beyond.

As one of the largest and most active gem and mineral clubs in Texas, AGMC is more than just an organization; we are a vibrant community of individuals who share a common interest and a passion for learning and creativity. Our members come together to share knowledge, explore new techniques, and foster friendships that span generations.

At AGMC, we recognize the importance of nurturing talent and inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, artisans, and enthusiasts. That's why we offer general membership and youth programs designed to engage and empower individuals of all ages. Whether you're a seasoned rockhound or a budding artisan, there's a place for you at AGMC.

Our club is committed to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, especially as we navigate through life's challenges. Through our diverse range of programs and activities, we aim to support our members in developing essential skills, maintaining physical and mental well-being, and fostering meaningful connections with others.

From our extensive list of classes to our exciting field trips and annual Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show & Sale, there's always something happening at AGMC. We invite you to join us at our monthly potluck dinners, where you can socialize, listen to guest speakers, and connect with fellow enthusiasts. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated on upcoming events and connect with our community online.

In addition to our focus on earth sciences and lapidary arts, AGMC offers a diverse array of creative art programs to inspire and engage our members. From the intricate craftsmanship of silversmithing to the ancient techniques of lost wax and sand casting, our classes provide opportunities for hands-on exploration and skill development. For those drawn to the luminous beauty of glass, we offer classes in glass fusing and enameling, allowing participants to create stunning pieces of wearable art. Our culinary enthusiasts can explore the world of cooking, while those with a passion for beadwork can unleash their creativity in beading classes. Additionally, we offer classes in UV resin, providing a modern twist on traditional jewelry-making techniques. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a novice looking to explore new creative avenues, AGMC welcomes you to join us in our diverse and inspiring art programs.

As a proud member of the South Central Federation of Mineral Societies and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, AGMC is dedicated to supporting the broader mineralogical community and promoting education and scholarship opportunities for our members.
